So, I’m a sociology major and a class (comparative sociology) I have to take before graduation requires us to write a literature review on a topic of our choice. This lit review is massive and unlike anything I’ve ever had to write. I chose racial profiling because I couldn’t get Michael Brown and Ferguson out of my head. Even though I’ve only begun the daunting task of researching this topic, sometimes I just wanna throw my laptop across the room, rip up all my notes, and pick something easier. BUT then… I’ll read an article or a book that reminds me of this infuriating “justice” system we have and I’m reminded of all the Michael Browns, Trayvon Martins, Sean Bells, and the colorblind society we live in and they all ignite that little fire in me to keep on keepin’ on. I must.
